No. WriteOff explains how U.S. federal income tax rules apply to what you tell it, based on public IRS guidance. It isn't a tax preparer and doesn't file returns. You decide what goes on your return. For anything that depends on judgment, talk to a tax professional.

WriteOff's tax rules decide every answer and every amount. AI only reads receipts and what you type, and suggests answers for you to confirm. It can't change the answer or the numbers.

Only with your permission: receipt images go to Anthropic's Claude API to be read, and text (what you type and the text on a receipt) goes to TypeSafe's jev model to suggest a category and pre-fill answers you already gave. Every suggestion is shown to you to confirm. See the privacy policy.

Yes. Turn off AI help in Settings > Privacy and enter the details yourself. The rules give the same answer either way.

Some answers depend on judgment, on a choice that affects several years, or on a figure the IRS hasn't published yet. When the rules don't settle it, WriteOff says so instead of guessing.

Yes. Add each business in Settings and switch between them in History. Each expense belongs to one business, so nothing counts twice.

Not yet. Answers cover U.S. federal income tax only.

No. You check one expense at a time: snap a receipt or type what you bought.

In History, open the menu and choose Export for my accountant. You can save a CSV or a PDF.

Go to Settings > Account > Delete account. This removes your account, businesses, expenses and receipts. Copies in backups are removed as those backups expire, within 90 days.
